I first met Pia Conaghan almost ten years ago when she was the lead designer at luxury lingerie powerhouse (& babylikestopony fave) Bordelle. My respect for her craft, design sensibility and our friendship has only grown since then so I’m absolutely thrilled to bring her label, Studio Pia, to our collection.
As a lifelong veggie, Pia set out to create the first lingerie brand using exclusively cruelty-free, organic, peace silk. Ethics and sustainable practices are at the heart of the brand but this is just one reason we love the collection. It is also an inclusive range, each piece is designed with expert use of sexy, yet supportive cuts, light body-shaping elements and adjustable sections that flatter a range of body types and adjust for perfect fit. Add hardware plated in 24-carat gold, detachable shoulder straps and finely woven embroidery and you have a unique collection that we’re proud to represent.
The designs reference the worlds of fine art and couture, matching rich colours and bespoke embroideries with exquisite construction techniques and quality craftsmanship. The ranges are designed and developed in house in London and production is done by highly skilled, small batch ateliers in the UK, or made to order completely in house. This kind of close relationship with suppliers & collaborators is key to creating a collection of this quality and is a rare find in an increasingly disconnected industry.
We expect our brands to tick a hell of a lot of boxes; ethical, luxury, original design, quality materials and craft with no compromise on aesthetics, comfort and great fit. Studio Pia is all that and then some. Welcome to the fold.

New label 'Ruban Noir'.
The universe that Stéphanie Weinich’s has created through her brand, Ruban Noir, is one that we love exploring. Sophisticated and playful, it caught our eye in Paris and it’s been on our mind and in our dreams ever since.
At first glance, the simple lines and use of fine Italian Jersey evoke a sporty, casual look. The designs, true to the name ‘Black ribbon’ are soft yet daring, supple yet structured. Simple and still sophisticated.
Ruban Noir plays on duality. It marries street art and couture, nods at classical codes of seduction like poetry while choosing a creative process that is bold and modern.
Looking a little closer, you’ll discover that every garment is meticulously produced using innovative techniques that are unique to the brand.
Stéphanie spent years developing and refining her execution and materials to create a combination that is rarely seen in lingerie.
"The whimsical, unpredictable ribbon changes, intrigues, transforms itself according to the desires of the designer; it shapes and magnifies her forms.
Ruban Noir creations are precious and subtle jewels. It is the lingerie of unique moments."
Mixing Jersey with polyurethane, she experiments with her creations in a laboratory-like set up. Between an oven, a press, a saw and a computer-piloted laser, her creations mix analog savoir-faire with digital innovation. The fruits of years of perseverance and adjustments are elegant and unique, and we can’t wait to wear them both as underwear and outerwear.

It's groovy, groovy
It's groovy, I guess
Man it's groovy …
He's got a nice body, he's wearing velvet pants
The Propellerheads knew it back in the late '90s, there's just something about velvet, the luxury, the sensual feel.
Now you can treat your piggies to the most gorgeous velvet socks by Simone Wild.
I became obsessed with an image I saw on Instagram of velvet socks worn with open toe stilettos. It was such a cute look and particularly appealing to me because I get really, really cold feet in Winter. I normally switch to boots but here was a super sexy option that could provide some more wears from my open toe shoes.
Consequently I spent the next few months scouring the internet for the very best velvet socks, until I found Simone.
Simone Wild launched in 2016 with the simple goal of bringing this luxurious fabric to your feet. Simone started out making the socks for herself, her friends soon started asking for pairs and then boutiques wanted in on the look and hence her brand was born.
Simone's background in tailoring and fashion design is apparent in the quality, fit and all round class of these gorgeous socks. Super high quality and, of course, made by hand in Germany.
Given the cold snap that is currently hitting Sydney we're thrilled to bring them to your feets too. Avail in three lengths, regular socks, knee high and thigh high.

babylikestopony on the runway with avant garde newcomer Dana Lock for her MBFWA debut.
Sydney’s prestigious Fashion Design Studio has produced some of Australia’s best talent, counting the likes of Dion Lee, Romance was Born, Zimmerman & Akira Isogawa amongst it's alumni. At Sydney Fashion Week, every year the leading lights of the studio are chosen for 'The Innovators' Show.
At babylikestopony, we support designers who follow their own path and resist the temptation of peeking at the neighbour’s homework, all too common in fashion.
Which is exactly why ‘The Innovators’ is one of our favourite shows. It’s where the bold newness lives. That’s the thing with new talent, their creations are not burdened by marketing realities and commercial concerns. And that is often where true originality happens.
Dana's range is amazingly inventive and seeks to disturb the contemporary train of thought. Her sculptural silhouettes play between the concepts of imprisonment and freedom.
It’s always a pleasure to style and see our pieces strut the catwalk. But it’s a true pleasure to do it with a designer who is both empowering and an agent for change.

We're super thrilled to have our 2018 ksxbltp capsule collection in store.
Earlier this year I had the pleasure of working with Kriss in London to develop an exclusive range for babylikestpony. We had a fairly easy task, I already adore Kriss's designs but the opportunity to bring a little bltp edge to her Nordic minimalism seemed like the perfect combination for a capsule collection.
Over just a few days the collection came together, building on some of our favourite pieces and working in a combination of customer feedback, new ideas, refinement and some bltp x factor.
My fave piece is the hooded mesh bra, the signature mesh bra seamlessly blends in to the hood for an effortlessly cool sports lux feel that can be worn in so many ways. I can't help but make up excuses to wear it.
The range features lux fishnet and sheer mesh fabric with functional gold suspender clips for quick release and convenience. The debut collection launch includes 8 pieces, 3 tops, 4 bottoms and a bodysuit.

One of the highlights of my recent buying trip to Europe was emerging designer OPAAK. Launched less that a year ago, OPAAK had already caught my attention on Instagram but it was a treat to have the opportunity to touch and feel their product and talk to Agathe, the talented and driven designer. I knew very quickly that this was a brand I had to bring on board at babylikestopony.
Agathe Muffert creates her range at her Cologne based studio. Abandoning traditional lace, floral designs and other embellishments, her OPAAK collection opts for clean finishes, perforations and minimal mesh in … are you sitting down? Black.
Her credo for the brand:
The development of a minimal, fashion-forward underwear collection, expressed by strong and authentic imagery.
The range manages to strike a rare balance between practical, every day wearability and a unique style. Seamlessly bridging stylish underwear to sexy outerwear.
You can see the influence of her past fashion house design experience with the likes of Viktor&Rolf in the collection which combines athletic silhouettes and highly functional, quality materials for a restrained, cool and effortlessly sexy look.
Like all our brands, the contemporary, minimalist designs are hand made in Europe using sustainable and ethical production processes. Currently OPAAK uses regenerative and recycled materials and exclusive use of GOTS certified biological cotton but also continue to research further innovations and improvements.
Beauty does not happen by means of definition. We do not want to take side with one direction. We say yes and no at once. We love the magic of tension and we see beauty in the in-between. Confidence is beautiful in combination with sensitivity. Black unfolds in combination with White. Control fires up with instinct.

Can you feel the excitement? It's new season Bordelle time!
Opulence, exhilaration, modernism and elegance, terms that defined the Art Deco movement, the inspiration behind Bordelle's latest collection.
Deco design in the late 20's and '30s evolved to create a sleek, antitraditional elegance that symbolized modern sophistication. A style of optimism, high quality materials and exquisite craftsmanship. Fertile ground for the new luxurious collection.
The range features lustrous oyster & black silk satin fabrics, Bordelle's signature customised satin elastic panelling and 24k gold plated hardware. The influence of the era’s bespoke jewellery can be seen in the geometric sculptural components in some of the spectacular showpieces.
Deco is the first of 3 collections from Bordelle for this season. So, watch this space.

When I started bltp almost seven years ago high on my list of partners was to find an outstanding parfumerie. Scent is intrinsically linked with sensuality and how we feel so it was a natural fit. After identifying a few potentials they all fell short in one way or another after further research. So it's with great pleasure that I can finally cross this one of the to do list. 'Map of the Heart' is everything we love in a perfume. Driven by creativity and desire, luxurious, beautifully crafted …
Take this quote from the founding duo from a recent interview:
"The luxury in niche for us is that everything we do is driven by the desire to create the best possible product; every detail is examined and considered. This affects the quality of the fragrances, the bottle and the box, to reach the ultimate goal of their stories."
Be still my beating heart.
Our launch collection features our selection of 4 fragrances from the current range. Each is unique, each inspired by emotion, emerging from different worlds to tell it's own story.
We can't possibly pick a favourite; the black heart of mysterious spices shot with shards of fresh eucalyptus, the rebellious sensual notes of musk and vanilla of the red heart or the golden heart that inhabits a utopian world of peace in spite of differences of belief, celebrating inner wealth, respect and tolerance.
Come in store to experience them for yourselves.
To celebrate the launch, all orders come with a sample fragrance for a limited time. If you have a preference for a particular heart you'd like to sample, let us know in the notes at the checkout.
Online fragrance orders come with the confidence of our 'love it/keep it' policy. Your order will be shipped with a complimentary sample vial of your fragrance. If you love the sample, open the sealed box and keep your order, otherwise you can return it for a full refund.

Lace! We're doing lace! We strive to bring you contemporary bodywear you can't get from other retailers so when we introduce a collection that features lace you better believe it's special. Tisja's unique aesthetic has been on our radar since she first launched in '15. Hailing from Amsterdam, her pieces are created by hand in Europe featuring luxurious materials with refined details. The range is inspired by nature with each collection a new chapter in a story written in lingerie. How romantica!
Expect a soft feminine aesthetic combined with clean graphic details & gold hardware. We particularly love the distinctive use of quality lace detailing; chantilly lace from Calais, leavers lace from Italy, silk elastic straps from France, all carefully selected to work together so you can mix and match styles.
The latest collection is ‘‘Forest. of. Symbols." Inspired by nature in full bloom, the forest full of life with divine shapes that sit beautifully on the body. The collection includes a unique printed silk scarf, a collaboration with designer Katarina Stupavska, which will take you on a journey to a pond full of water lilies.
Welcome to more pretty. View the collection

Who better to create some amazing Nami collection inspired art on our windows than internationally acclaimed artist & friend Nanami Cowdroy.
We first met Nana in Sydney over 8 years ago when we stumbled across her art online. We were immediately drawn to the intricate inkyness, purchasing one of her beautiful pieces as a wedding gift. Nanami was so engaging and warm and our friendship slowly grew over the years. We now have a number of her works and are proud to say our influence has rubbed off on Nanami too, inspiring the art works 'Exquisite Femme' & 'Touch Up'. 'Exquisite Femme' features the intricate venetian masks we stocked at the time and you can play spot the Bordelle in 'Touch Up'.
Growing up with contrasting European & Japanese cultures and surroundings has greatly influenced Nanami's unique style and expression of creativity. The result is a mish-mash of contradicting elements, urban landscapes with underwater creatures or technology with nature in a way that brings a sense of co-existent harmony.
Nanami wears DSTM hooded body and Mercurius harness
Being brought up in a family of artists encouraged Nanami’s creativity and allowed her to embrace her view of the world through artistic goggles – something she put on at an early age.
“When I was maybe three or four, I got my hands on some face paints, and I became obsessed with them! I drew whiskers, butterflies, stars, spiders, glasses, vampire blood, stitches, you name it – but I was allergic to them! Though that didn’t stop me… I ended up drawing on my face every second day, with the alternating day used to calm down the skin irritation & swelling… I guess you suffer for your passion!”
We will also be featuring some of Nana's other work in the store, drop by to drink in the inky beauty.

The final installment of Bordelle's SS17 collection has just landed at babylikestopony.
The sensual and sophisticated Nami range features exclusively developed guipure lace. Inspired by one of Japan's most iconic works of art, the Great Wave of Kanagawa, a woodblock print by 18th century artist Katsushika Hokusai. And also the inspiration behind one of our personal favourite art works, 'Uprisings' by contemporary artist duo Kozyndan.
'Nami', japanese for wave, is an exquisite combination of intricately embroidered scalloped Swiss guipure, Bordelle's signature customised satin elastic panelling, 24K gold plated hardware and silk satin bows in a soft palette of soft duck egg, caramel and cream. And, yes, black too.
It's not just other artists and lingerie designers that The Great Wave off Kanagawa has inspired.
French composer Claude Debussy shared the inspiration for The Sea (La Mer) on the cover of its sheet music. A sketch fashioned after The Great Wave off Kanagawa gave music lovers the iconic image to associate with the orchestral composition.
The poet Rainer Maria Rilke penned, "The Mountain," after being so impressed by the meticulousness that went into the print's creation, the poem begins: "Six and thirty times and hundred times/ the painter tried to capture the mountain,/ tore it up, then pushed on again/ (six and thirty times and hundred times)."
Oh, and It’s an emoji. Clearly its highest honour yet.

babylikestopony is always looking for unique new labels to add to our collection but we're tough critics. Our criteria includes labels that are body positive, pro-women, original designs, sweat shop free, sustainable, ethical, of the highest quality and contemporary. Big asks in an industry dominated by cheap mass production, design theft and a profit first attitude. Many other companies pay lip service to some of these ideals but we live by them, it's the reason I started this business in the first place. I truly believe in proving that doing business with your ideals and ethics intact is possible and damn it I'm going to prove it.
So a company established in 1962 by a Catalan textile engineer doesn't immediately fit the mold. But ANDRES SARDA is no ordinary lingerie label. A history of innovation, of breaking down stereotypes and developing designs that are not only comfortable and practical but also sophisticated and sexy and all produced in the family's home town of Barcelona and with Nuria Sardá, Andre's daughter, as creative director of the brand we're proud to welcome the label to our collection.
Creativity, excellence, new materials, the love of risk taking in design and the desire to surprise are the key attributes that define the product style of ANDRES SARDA, we hope you love it.
We acknowledge the Gadigal of the Eora Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and live. We recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
